If you ever wanted to reward a company for keeping it in the USA, think of Marvin when it’s time for windows and doors. The New York Times writes…
“When the housing market collapsed and, with it, the market for windows and doors, competitors shuttered plants and cut work forces. But as a fourth generation of Marvins prepares to take over, the most obvious — some would argue most effective — option was off the table.”
The family business in Warroad, Minnesota hasn’t layed off a single one of its 4000 employees during the recession. Cut pay and benefits, yes. Laid off people, no.

You would think that an established company like York would shout Made in America right there on their homepage. But instead, they simply mention manufacturing wallpaper in York, PA since, oh, around 1895.
That’s a long time creating jobs in America, but also coming out with fresh designs that homeowners still seek today. Plus, they’re getting a little more green as they grow.

You can probably think of a boatload of reasons to fill up an old-fashioned laundry cart with all sorts of goods from toys to magazines, to laundry, perhaps even with onions or potatoes.
The Steele Canvas Basket Company has been making carts and hand baskets since the early 1900s. And they’re as groovy to look at as they are functional, especially since we love industrial looks.

Silly, we think, if you say you can’t furnish a house with made in America products. Not only is it do-able – it’s way more stylish not only for the feel-good factor but because Indy designers are coming out with unique things you won’t find in the factory lines.
We’re loving Machine Shop Lighting in Wisconsin. They’ve got three styles so far, but all of them are interesting for all kinds of installations from bathroom to kitchen to trios in the dining room.

Of all the items you think you could find produced in America, the American flag is one that is surprisingly hard to find domestically.
At Annin Flags in New York City, not only can you find American flags, but also state flags, historical flags and custom flags and Annin is the chosen licensee of the US Marine Corps.
And who knew there are so many kinds of flags: parade, classroom, outdoor, indoor, grave marker flags and more? Lots of us just don’t think about flag variations much, but Annin has got it all.

Oh yeah, Bauer Pottery is STILL around. I say “still” because back in 30s, 40s, 50s, there were boatloads of pottery companies in California and other states, as well.
Bauer is a survivor since the 1880s. Plus, it still looks pretty groovy.

The company statement is a little unclear. While upholstery and painted furniture pieces are made domestically, they don’t come out and say “Made in America” anywhere on the website.
Life Made American decided to drop them a line to find out what styles are made here. Standby for a response.

Lauren Russell, vice president and creative director at Maine Cottage said:
The short answer is that about 80% of our goods are made in America.
Maine Cottage started out as a few pieces of wood furniture bench-built by a single carpenter in Maine. With growth our method of production had to evolve. We are proud to say, however, that to this day (25 years later) all of our painted wood furniture is still made domestically by skilled American craftsmen. Our printed fabrics are all printed domestically, and every one of our 8-way hand tied upholstered pieces of furniture is crafted in the foothills of North Carolina.
Maine Cottage hunts for accessories made by American artists, but it is not a rule so I would not want to mislead a consumer. Some of our lamps and rugs are imported. If you know of any potters, quilters or canvas bag makers who fit our vibe, send them along, I am always scouting for partner artisans in the states for future product development!

James Perse sounds familiar to fashionistas that follow his clothing design. But new in his creative releases is furniture made entirely in the USA.
Not only is James Perse’s Malibu Collection constructed to use indoors or out with Sunbrella fabrics and teak frame, it has a certain casual comfort in the lines and the kind of deep cushions that induce a nap.
